Do something about the TPP, fellow youtubers ..... Mail your senators now.....

Well Folks. The TPP (trans pacific partnership) is still being worked on. This draconian "treaty" to force copyright infringement laws, very draconian ones, ones that make SOPA look nice, has to be stopped. It's up to you to stop this. Because under this Treaty, YouTube and all of the Internet gets shut down. Including Gaming sites. This treaty would do the following:

"I've decided to write about what I've been writing about on that

blog for the last few days, the secret treaty called the "Trans-Pacific Partnership", which will
basically force US to adopt copyright laws so broad and corrupt that it will make SOPA look
nice.  Under the law, the ISP's are required to A) filter all communications looking for possible
or alleged infringement, and then they are forced to hand it over to the government. The
government would then look through it looking for possible infringement. The problem with
this is that the government can then say that this site needs to be taken down to google and
other similar sites, force ISPS to filter it out, and worse. No actual proof is required that the
transmission or site is actually infringing on something, just one infringing link, or the
assurance that the site contains lots of infringing links. Also temporary copy infringement, is
not exempt to this. Every time someone watches a video on YouTube, 1000's of temporary
copies are created by the streaming process. The ISP would be forced to use deep packet
inspection to find these and if one of these temporary copies is a YouTube packet that is part
of a youtube video stream that has one "alleged" infringement on it, the person watching the
video could get arrested, and sued, because the ISP is forced to tell the "alleged" copyright
holder. The most recent RIAA case defendant had to pay $22,500 dollars per songs for
illegally  downloading only 30 songs, each only 99 cents each... Imagine that multiplied by
1000 for listening  to a video on YouTube where video game footage is overlayed with
copyrighted music, because of the  1000's of temporary copies produced on the persons
HDD, all caught by the ISP. That's $22,500,000  dollars for watching a video!

Under this, there is an almost certain chance YouTube will be shut down. Youtube is filled with
infringing videos uploading copyrighted music. At least a few million.  But the other video types
uploaded to youtube, such as video game lets plays, walkthroughs, etc, could all be sources of
"alleged" infringement, due to the fact that many videos showing off games are put under fair
use, which TPP seems to be made to eliminate.  But even worse,  since the government simply
has to say a site is filled with infringing links, a lot of sites will be targeted under this. Expect all
the big file sharing hosts like 4shared, mediafire, etc to be shut down first. They have tons of
copyrighted material on them, and many people keep assuming they profit off pirated files
because they allow people to buy premium accounts for more upload space, even though the
pirated files are all tiny files, all tiny portions of an archive, split into 200 parts with 200 accounts
registered to upload a file. There is no way sites like this are profiting off of files uploaded to
their free account due to the fact that ads on these sites are part of every download, no
matter how legal."

It's important to talk to your senators NOW. Let them hear your voice. Tell them you can't
stand what this treaty is doing and that that your against it, and they should not vote for it.
It will shut down 90% of the known internet. This is really important, you can do something
about this... It is due for ratification soon, by the end of the year.... Get to work, youtubers!

Note, to get around the filtering they plan, you can use the EFF's plugin, HTTPS everywhere,
to force your browser (FireFox Only) to use the Encrypted HTTPS format. This should (in theory)
prevent the ISP's from illegally reading your traffic (deep packet filtering) under the TPP to find
alleged copyright material some 2 bit fake copyright holder claims you are distributing when your
not. These things can be bypassed. In case this gets passed make sure to do this!

MA tries to start another violent game Witchhunt!!!

Well it seems the idiots attacking violent games never stop, do they? On the heels of the idiotic study into so called violent games "effects" on kids  set up by Senator Jay Rockefeller, We have my state trying to start the same old nonsense again. A politician in MA has decided that it would be a good
idea to start a biased study to study the effect of games on kids again.... Right after MA stalled their bill aiming to restrict violent games so they could not be bought by adults. These "studies" popping up everywhere get to me. Because just like all of the other game attacking studies, these
are bound to be biased, and engineered to show a certain result. A lot of other studies are funded by the Center for Successful parenting, a group that has this in their mission statement "We aim to motivate leaders of <insert tons of industries here> to change culture so violence is not shown to
children" basically meaning "ban violent games", because changing the culture of violence can only done by removing the violence.

The current studies by Rockefeller and this idiot in MA are troubling. The Rockefeller study, has language in it's text that tells that the studies can find whatever results they want, because it asks if the violent games have any "new" effects on kids. After the brief but stupid moral panic
surrounding child molestation and it's nonexistent link to violent game playing, spurred by that
Preacher Boykin and Ralph Nader, I wondered if they could use the vague language in the study to find that violent game playing leads to child molestation and pedophilia.  To see what the Study in MA does I  looked at the text of the study closely...

I got the text from this source:

"That a special commission is hereby established for the purposes of making an investigation and study relative to video games as  a form of media and as a training tool. Within that context, the commission will focus upon video games that allow the player to  simulate severe battery or killing (“killing games”). The commission will study, investigate, and provide conclusions regarding:  (i) the social benefits, impacts and implications of video games in general and killing games in particular, comparing the impact  on youth with the impact on adults; (ii) the use of video games as military training devices, educational devices, and other training  applications; (iii) how video games compare to other forms of media in terms of their ability to recreate a realistic experience, to  desensitize the consumer, to train the consumer to accept certain ideas, and to teach the player new skills or capabilities; (iv) the addictive quality of video games; (v) any connection, including any exposure t or imitation of behaviors exhibited in video games,  between killing games and actual violence, including rampage killings that have taken place since 1990; (vi) the reasoning and  conclusions drawn in the majority, concurring, and dissenting opinions in Brown v. Entertainment Merchants Association, as well as  other freedom of speech considerations relative to the regulation of video games, in light of the conclusions drawn by the commission  pursuant to (i)-(v); and (vii) the anticipated cost of any proposals to regulate video games. The commission members will play or
observe killing games directly during the course of their investigation."

So this study wants to see if games are an effective training tool. We've been told BS in the newspapers from the hack psychologists that violent games are being used in the military to break down the inhibition to kill. But this blog, written by a military trained
soldier debunks the whole thing. I quote:

"I'm not aware of any military unit that uses video games to break down the inhibition to kill. In fact, this breakdown really only occurs in one place:
Boot camp.

Boot camp doesn't even specifically concentrate on the inhibition to kill. Rather, they follow the CIA training manual for brainwashing almost point  by point, in order to instill in recruits 'instant and willing obedience to lawful orders' - that is what they do. The assumption, of course, is
that these orders may be to kill; But they could be to drag a wounded child to safety, or set up a bunker in 100 degree weather, or pull night watch  after being up for a 36-hour convoy.

The inhibition to kill can only be broken down by, wait for it . . . killing.

When we were parked on the outskirts of Fallujah and watched as night fell and the Iraqis came out onto the streets, even though our orders were much  more liberal than the current Rules of Engagement, there was still hesitation. And this after our convoy had turned around after taking fire at the  front.

When we got ambushed, it was actually unfortunate that my extensive game-playing hadn't prepared me at all for the sheer confusion, excitement, fear  and horror of those moments.

If you think America's Army is anything but a half-decent game and a lame recruitment tool, you've never run an obstacle course, or been  'quarterdecked'
by a DI.

If you think Halo can help you learn how to shoot, you've never tried to get ten in the black from 500 yards with the piece-of-shit M16A2, with your  elbows getting ground by sand trapped in your cammies and the sun causing sweat on your forehead which drips into your eyes.

Video games, or things resembling games, are being used in some areas of the military.

During training ops higher ups often pit virtual countries against each other, but these are basically pushing pieces, simulating battles and  using the troops to set up comm architectures and run test flights.

Some first-person-shooters are used by infantry troops to plan out tactics - but these are mostly for higher-level planners; Games will never,  ever take the place of constant, demanding, mind-numbing repetition. Proper execution of maneuvers rely on muscle memory; Drill, in boot camp,
forms the introduction to this doctrine.

Rainbow Six may let you breach and clear, but this doesn't translate to the motions or related actions: Which direction do you break? What  targets are you responsible for? Who can declare a room 'all clear'? Did you check your overhead?

Flight simulators seem like video games, though I'm sure those responsible for both maintaining and operating them see them more as necessary steps  to save billions of dollars worth of equipment from inexperienced hands.

If you want to know how to make a person prone to suggestion to kill, look here.

If anyone would like my breakdown of how boot camp uses the steps for Interrogation of Resistant Sources, just let me know.

The only way, then, I would even consider the argument that violent media makes for violent children is if it could be proven  that those children who have been violent were denied any sort of balancing social forces. That is, if you took a child and locked him in a room
and forced violent images day in and day out and brought them to the level of an infant and replaced their language with one of your own devising  and had them progress their violence on increasingly complex organisms -- THEN, and only then, would I be willing to entertain that the media was
a factor. And even then, it was not the cause. The cause was you, the sick fuck that provided no guidance other than a violent outlet.

That's how fascists work. They replace free social exchange with their ideas, they re-form language to their own ends  ("Quite apart from the suppression of definitely heretical words, reduction of vocabulary was regarded as an end in itself . . . "),  they make natural human sexuality taboo, they declare the War on Some Drugs, they attempt to regulate and control every aspect of human growth and exploration. They embrace stagnation of society and the mind."

The fact that the studies author is bringing this nonsense claim up to the Government is proof that the the government is trying to ban violent games again, IMHO. It must be stopped before it gets to the 90 day phase (see below), or we could have a MA ban on violent games to adults. Not to kids.

"The commission shall consist of: the Governor or a designee, who shall chair the commission; a member of the general  public appointed by the Governor; 3 members of the Senate, chosen by the Senate President, 1 of which is a member of  the minority party; 3 members of the House of Representatives that are chosen by the Speaker, 1 of which is a member of
the minority party; 1 constitutional lawyer who specializes in freedom of speech; the Massachusetts Attorney General or a  designee; 2 psychologists or psychiatrists, at least one of whom is a mental health professional specializing in addiction;  the Secretary of Education or a designee who is an educator; a member of the military who engages in military training;  a representative of the video game industry; and a representative of the law enforcement community."

At least one of the people involved has a bias against violent games if I am right. They mention "a member of the military who specializes in military training". This fits one of the Hack Psychologist to a tee. Another Hack Psychologist could be in it too if I am right, "1 constitutional lawyer who specializes in freedom of speech" sounds a lot like a retired anti-game activist everyone
in the community hates to me. They also mention how they need to study the impact of the proposed regulation on free speech, probably as a cheap way to see how they can make a constitutional law that causes violent games to not get in the hands of adults, such as the Oklahoma tax on 1% of all property every time someone in OK played, stored, bought and otherwise consumed violent games.

They also want to study how violent games have caused mass killings like columbine (I assume). Whats to stop them from not believing the nonsense spread by the idiots in the government, the media, and unknown parties that says violent games influenced Harris/Klebold/
Lanza, etc? Such things include the Doom will become reality hoax and similar "tidbits of information" that seem to make it look like mass killers played violent games but this info is badly written at the least, and is outright lies at the worse.

"Legislative appointments shall be made not later than 30 days after the effective date of this resolve. The chairperson shall  meet with the full commission not later than 90 days after the effective date of this resolve. Members shall not receive  compensation for their services but may receive reimbursement for the reasonable expenses incurred in carrying out their  responsibilities as members of the commission. Upon appropriation of sufficient funds, the commission shall engage professional "advisors as needed to accomplish its purposes.

"Not later than 270 days after the effective date of this resolve, the commission shall report to the general court the result  of its investigation and study and its recommendations, if any, together with drafts of legislation necessary to carry its  recommendations into effect by filing the same with the clerk of the House of Representatives. "

We have 90 days to stop this, gamers.  I want every gamer in MA to write their Representatives, using this message:

"Dear Representitive.

I am your constituent, and I am alarmed by the  study our senate has started dealing with video game violence and the whole idea that the effects on kids and how violent games are a training tool for the military needs to be studied. For years studies like this have been done and many are methodologically flawed, using cheap ways to say violent games lead to  violent behavior or aggression, such as subjecting the violent game playing kids to electroshock therapy. It's very important to note that any evidence that violent games cause real life crimes has to be doubted. There are many hoaxes going around and media fabrications that make it seem like violent games cause real life violence. If you do a google.com search for the "doom will become reality hoax" you will find a blog debunking a
claim that was used to "prove" eric Harris was influenced by the video game Doom while shooting up the school. This claim is a hoax, a fake website said "doom will become reality" and the FBI proved the site was not Eric Harris's real site. Also many claims are spreading that violent games break down the inhibition to kill. These are false claims spread by 2 anti-gaming activists in the 90's and the below linked site debunks them totally. The site is a blog ran by a Soldier in IRAQ, telling how violent games could never break down the inhibition to kill, and only Boot Camp obedience training does this.....

http://designsynthesis.blogspot.com/2005/03/training-our-kids-to-kill.html

I find it disgusting that the government would spend millions of tax dollar money on a bill that would
have restricted violent games to minors so adults could not buy them. There is no reason to study
the false connections between violent games and Real life killings, all invented by the media and anti-gaming groups. The hoax mentioned above was used as "evidence" against  the industry in an Anti-Gaming Group's Amicus Brief.  This group is from the Midwest, they are called the Eagle Forum, and they are pro-religious zealots who think violent games should be banned to adults and gamers should all be dealt with somehow.  They were trying to fool the Justices in the SCOTUS to think this evidence is real and not a hoax. One of the people championing the break down to kill "theory" is a zealot former lawyer who once said on the gamepolitics forums that all gamers need to get the Death Penalty. If you plan to study these things, you must be sure NOT to be swayed by these types. For they tried to sway the EMA vs BROWN Case and others..... I just don't think this study is a good thing because it looks like people like these kinds of people are on the group conducting the study.

I don't like the idea of fake evidence being used to sway any people to believe this nonsense is real.
A study like this is almost impossible to be Not swayed by people like this. I am against
it for this reason, and I hope you are too."

Send this message to your Representatives, gamers. Maybe we can get them to stop this now... If it doesn't work, I urge people to resend it over and over again, till they stop the study. Flood their Inboxes over and over again, till their network slows down, if they
fail to listen. It's important to stop nonsense like this.

Conspiracy to Ban violent games by our government is a REALITY!!!!!!

I am writing this article to express what I have been thinking behind the scenes of this war against violence in entertainment for years... I have been collecting evidence, looking at claims, even going deep inside conspiracy theory circles on Sandy Hook, Columbine, Marathon Bombing and more.  Until Sandy Hook, I never believed one shred of the conspiracy nonsense, but now I don't know what I believe.... But I still believe one thing that is quite controversial and it's based on tons of backed up evidence... That there is a conspiracy in this government going on since 1997 to get violent games banned after a massacre happens using fake evidence, media yellow journalism, government intervention, dozens of not to be trusted studies, and other things as well. It's a reality to me and I want to explain why I believe this, and why you should to. Especially if you are a gamer.

Lets start at the crimes themselves that lead to moral panics surrounding youth violence and entertainment violence, columbine and sandy hook especially. Marathon bombing and aurora aren't so big in this but there have been one or two people spreading lies after them so they are in the background.   If you look behind the scenes, ignoring ALL the media's claims about such crimes and go to conspiracy circles, you get tons of evidence to suggest such crimes are engineered. This helps to link this to a conspiracy but doesn't proof it's part of the conspiracy.   In Sandy Hook's case, it's been proven by the Social security that Adam lanza died 1 day before the massacre. What would this mean for the idea of a conspiracy, well, for one thing, if what social security says IS true, it makes it IMPOSSIBLE for Lanza to be the killer, so someone else must be the killer instead... So since this someone else hasn't even been investigated AT ALL by the government after  the killing (they REFUSE to investigate the possibility of the governments involvement), we have to assume they are in on it.     In columbine's case, there are TONS of student evidence to suggest more than Harris and Klebold were involved, at least 6 other people where never caught in columbine... A white man throwing bombs, a man with acne that does not look like either of the reported shooters, and more. Who are these people? Since the government never once investigated this, and the FBI has been proven to withhold evidence on the crime,  how do we know the government isn't involved in this at all. In sandy hooks case, there is also a claim of a second shooter, the police "investigated" but this guy was let go later. All of this leads to the possibility the government is involved in BOTH crimes....

But the real proof of the conspiracy lies somewhere else, in the investigation of nonsense spread after the school shootings themselves by both known and Unknown parties.  This nonsense is almost always of an anti-gaming nature, making it look like the shooter was solely influenced by violent games.  I did several articles discussing hoaxes perpetrated by unknown parties that seem to be used  to cause an outcry against violent games and even in the Supreme court to hijack EMA vs Brown. Such hoaxes are quite devious and NO one has even investigated and punished the perpetrators of these, especially the "Doom will become Reality" hoax. Supposedly Harris Said Doom Will Become Reality on his website. But the page was not his site, it was uploaded on April 21, 1999, one day after the massacre and It was proven by the FBI to be Fake later. But the sheer amount of attack sites, sites ran by extremist groups, all hell bent on making violent games look bad after columbine, Especially Doom, have used this claim as proof that doom caused Columbine. Later on a news article on some website said this site was not Harris's Real AOL page but a fake page, but later on this site was simply taken off line!! A coverup?

Even more Sinister, the Conspiracy idea is brought further to light with the Newspaper articles of 1999 that claim Harris modified Doom to use in training for the massacre. Three articles all basically said the same basic premise, A Hate site tracking group found a modified version of Doom on harris's Site. But each article had different, contradictory features, some not even possible to even Do in Doom in 1999.  One said that this modified version had 2 shooters, infinite ammo, and the  first shooter who ran out of Ammo died first (An Impossibility to do with doom in 1999!), another article took this last part out and claimed the version had infinite weapons, ammo, 2 shooters, and begging students saying a quote. Then Denverpost ran a similar article without these modified features mentioned but  the quote was Changed, and the way it was said was also changed, but all three articles mention  the same hate site tracking group, even going so far to quote their members, but when I did searches for this groups corroboration of this version on their website, I could not find it!
My article on this goes into this in more detail for people who are more interested in this part. It's a long read but interesting anyway..  The real issue, is like the "Doom Will become Reality" Hoax, this has also been used on dozens of dozens of attack sites to demean the industry after the Industry, even though it's fake!  It was also used in the EMA vs Brown Hijacking mentioned above as well.

Doing research into the nonsense studies that attempt to prove violent games cause real life violence, you get evidence of groups like the Center for Successful Parenting wanting to "change" culture to get rid of the violence (to ban it really), and earlier studies had .PDF files online that mentioned previous studies had used Electroshock therapy to bias their results, only on the kids who played violent  games in the study to boot. But later on, searching for this .PDF file in the same exact search, showed that it was deleted! So was the Amicus Brief that cited the 2 hoaxes. It was taken down too, the link that worked during Brown VS EMA, all of the sudden was taken down and there was no way to back up the claim that they used fake evidence besides my own blog saying it was. I never even bothered screenshotting the Amicus brief in question, not knowing it would be taken down. Conspiracy?

In Sandy Hook's case the Media nonsense was almost as bad.  Right after the massacre, Adam Lanza's brother Ryan was identified as the shooter.  When he supposedly liked Mass Effect's Page on Facebook, a bunch of Religious Zealot trolls attacked the site to try to flood it in an attempt to take it down while harassing gamers with religious hate threats ("Burn in hell", etc). The thing is none of these trolls are even on Facebook, I checked, looking for any of these attackers, and ALL Their accounts were nonexistent. It's like a certain mid western religious zealot/pro family/anti freedom/gaming group used a bunch of fake accounts to take down Mass Effect's Site..... No investigation was done into this.... More Ammo to prove a Conspiracy.

Even after that, when the guardian, a tabloid from England ran an article that Attempted to prove that Adam Lanza Played Call of Duty , but Failed, despite this failure, dozens of dozens of newspapers quoted the article as Proof  he played COD, all at once, like 50 in one day!!!!

Then you get into what I call the Tornado of Bullshit, a never ending cycle of nonsense that seems to be brought up over and over again by the media, the government and others, that always seems to fuel censorship or violent games legislation. Here is a diagram to show this off:

In this diagram the same thing seems to happen over and over again...
A) A school shooting happens, it is blamed on Violent games
B) Fake evidence such as the hoaxes, is used to "prove it", hack psychologists go on talk shows
and say violent games are used to break down the inhibition to kill, (a Lie)
C) Hoaxes get debunked but sites get mysteriously shut down later
D) Public Outcry Happens
E) The Government gets involved and demands changes
F) Unknown parties instigate "Evidence Gathering Campaigns" against gaming sites, to prove gamers get violent for the things to come. Tactics such as harassment, abuse, threatening their lives while using fake names happen. This leads to fake evidence being gathered using abusive tactics.
G) Senate Hearings happen.
H) Studies are done to link violent games to aggression
I) Hack psychologists claim  these studies prove "Violence!" not aggression
J) More Public Outcry,
K) More Senate Outcry, this time legislation is brought up
L) Legislation fails and goes to the supreme court
M) The Hoaxes are used to sway the justices by pro family/anti-gaming groups
N) The justices find the law unconstitutional...
O) Now the hack psychologists call gamers druggies and sociopaths
P) Other fake "media violence experts" lie and say their life is being threatened
Q) More public outcry, more fake evidence, more Legislation!

In this conspiracy theory, who is involved? Good Question..... The government is part of this but they are far from the only people... Any news writer mentioning fake evidence is definitely in on this, that includes the writers of the 3 articles that claimed a fake version of doom was found on Harris's site. Any public outcry group that uses fake evidence against games, is possibly involved (depends on if they know it's fake or not, doesn't it?). Then the right wing zealot groups who tried to hijack Brown vs Ema, they are definitely part of this... Anyone who takes part in evidence gathering campaigns or Video game Slander attack campaigns like the Facebook Mass Effect BS trolling mentioned above is probably involved.... In the Denverpost.com forum debacle linked in the Evidence Gathering Campaign link above, the Email Services (justicemail), the Forum itself, the thread the forum took place on, the post the troll posted claiming he had found evidence that the gamers get violent (by our responses), all of this got mysteriously deleted no more than 3 years later... Conspiracy? I say YES!!!!

What does this mean for the future of gaming... It's not good, that's for sure.... Every time a school shooting happens and "proof" is found the shooter like violent games, be wary of it. Most of the time it's fabricated, made up proof, part of a much bigger scheme.... I don't trust any site claiming to show a link between a school shooter, and a motive involving video games making him commit the crime, such evidence such as the hoaxes are just that, Nonsense hoaxes perpetrated by the people involved in this conspiracy to fuck with our freedoms... Who knows if the real perpetrators of Sandy Hook, Columbine (?), Marathon Bombings, etc, are in on it too. Those are brought up to make people think before I went into the meat of the article, proof of a coverup, the first step to prove a conspiracy... I'm not sure myself if Columbine was a false flag, or if Sandy Hook Was, but if the evidence Social Security has given was NOT a mistake on  their part, then it MUST BE.... And people must act... How they must act is dependant of the future events attacking violent games in the Media, the Government etc.... Don't let the Administration fake evidence to make violent games look like a Culprit if PROOF has been found Lanza died 1 day before... IMHO, Taking away violent games is part of a much bigger conspiracy to control our minds.  Also part of this is constant boot camp style brainwashing done at a lower but not friendly intensity to make people perfectly loyal, controlled subjects during the Education process from 2nd grade till the graduate college. Gaming, Sexuality, Music, Entertainment, Our right to get third party music (what RIAA is fighting), Our right to bear arms, our right to privacy, our right to fair and legal justice (their is none anymore, murderers get off and innocents like Aaron Swartz are put to death every day for crimes they did not commit), all of this goes against control. All of it. So it's a no brainier, that if they are conspiring to control us all, why would they NOT conspire to get rid of stuff that makes it harder for them to do that in the first place?

Onslaught : Free FPS video game being made by me.

Back in 1995, me and a friend came out with an awesome idea for a FPS game.  In it you played as a cybernetic mercenary who happens to be a die hard metalhead/heavy metal music fan.  You started down in cape cod, MA or in a prison in outer space (in later drafts of the game idea).  A mercenary guild called the Anti-Social Services (or A.S.S. for short) would contact you and offer to hire you to do work against the main villains of the game, a mad cult called the Cult of the Serpent Church, which was in total control of at least the US and Canada during this time (the game took place around 50-60 years from now, in post apocalyptic ruins of cities). This cult was attempting to exterminate humanity, for whatever reason. They nuked washington DC and Paris a few months before the game started. They had total control of every major countries militaries. The Anti-social services were fighting them and losing. So they hired you, the cybernetic mercenary to help them out. You would be whisked off to many different cities along the whole east coast of the US, the move to the west coast, then Canada, then Antarctica, then finally the ruins of DC for the final level to fight and kill the mad cult leader. We named the character you played as as bastard at the time. He was really a badass, Duke3d like character, with BAD one liners, etc. My friend wanted the character to be a real anti-hero. Not a goody too shoes. The plan fit. For the next 6 years from 1996 to 2002  we kept on thinking of enemy, weapon, and level ideas. We had hundreds of each. The plan was getting so ridiculous that we eventually stopped updating it and scrapped it. We wanted it to be  given to a game company, and get paid. It never happened... But that doesn't mean Onslaught is not being made.. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

Using Gzdoom you can easily make standalone games without using anything from the parent game (doom 1/2 etc). I've been doing just this to make onslaught as a standalone Game, using Freedoom as a base. Freedoom is a free Doom IWAD, and allows anyone to play any doom addon without the full game even installed. Using resources from realm667.com I have managed to recreate many of our old ideas for monsters, cult soldiers and weapons. Only thing left was levels. Not a big fan of doing my own maps for Gzdoom I decided to use a really good Doom Random Map generator that does really well designed urban levels (for that time anyway). I used these levels as a base and simply retextured them with free Photorealistic urban textures, and added enemies here and there and tweaked other things. The project is almost done, after almost 15 years of developement time! I plan to release it by midnight on Halloween 2012. Some things need to be changed though... Not major changes mind you, but some minor issues. But most of it has been completed, including all 32 levels.

Gameplay wise, onslaught is quite different from normal shooters. Number 1 it is excruciatingly difficult on higher skill settings, and even has heart attacks simulated in it's scripting library for low health. Number 2, since you play as a cyborg (now being called Asshole), you get to use cybernetic powers with the f1,f2,f3,f4 and f5 keys. F1 gives you a temporary cloaking ability. F2 heals you. F3 gives you nightvision that allows you to see invisible mutant enemies. F4 puts up an impenetrable force field around the player for at 10 seconds at the default level.  F5 is the best though. It's called Metal rage, and is aptly named. After screaming out a metal related phrase at the top of his lungs, our character gets 2x boost to weapon fire rate for quite some time.  Using Forcefield and Metal Rage make the game much more bearable because you do 2x fire speed and are invincible.  F2 can save you from some bad situations. In this game you get punished for low health a lot more than others. Once your health drops below 75 you start bleeding, making your health drop slowly over time. The lower your health gets, the more health is subtracted per 2 seconds.  It's important to keep your health above 75.  Good thing that there are many ways to heal you. Health kits are everywhere but you can use them any time you want... Also killing enemies gibs them even with light weapons. You get health by eating gibs in this.  The more gibs you create per kill the more health you will get.  Using machineguns is advisable because you cause more damage per second. Adding metal rage doubles it so always hit f5 to make it more gory. More guts, more health. In this game enemies are around every corner at the start and you eventually run into 200+ per level later on. It becomes like serious sam, enemy concentration wise. Combine that with the difficulty and you get a mix of tactical and twitch shooter gameplay aspects. I think it's quite cool.

In terms of level progression, this is quite different from most FPS games. Each level is linear for the most part but the progression from level to level is not. You start the game in your HQ. Once you go into the computer room, you get to flip a switch that selects what mission you want to do. Flipping it again selects the next one, till you reach the last, and flipping it then will select the 1st again.  Flipping another switch warps you to the selected mission. Once you finish the level the mission is in you return to the HQ with your guns stripped from you to ensure you start each level from scratch. There are so many guns in this game that carrying them over from level to level will make it too easy. 25 guns is a lot. You can replay all the levels multiple times and more levels will be made later to make it even more fun, so that you get not 32 but 64 levels to explore. 32 more bonus levels... This in scope is closer to something like Skyrim then a normal FPS game. although each level is totally linear (the random level generator has no option to remove locked doors, etc to make it nonlinear), it is still fun. In a bonus pack down the road you will get an option to go on a "vacation" and explore a randomly chosen map from the 32 bonus ones.... Something to make the game more replayable.

You also get money in this game to use on spending on new guns to start new missions with. Once you visit every room in the first HQ map you will run into buy and sell switches in another room.  Pressing one selects the item to buy. Pressing it again selects the next one, etc. Pressing it once you reach the end makes it select the 1st. Pressing the second switch buys the selected item for the mentioned cost.  The difference in Onslaught is that the money comes as a bonus for good performance 5 minutes in in any level. The more monsters you have killed by the 5 minute mark, the more money you get.  So in harder levels, you get better rewards, money wise... The game has innocent civilians who are all big assholes but are not hostile... You get generic male civis, female civis, teachers, violent video game protestors and idiots from doomworld.  They all count as enemies to kill so killing them will get you more money..  Each is a parody on idiots of real life.  Male civilians, and female civilians are based on idiots I dealt with in real life. Teachers are based on the idiots we had for teachers in many schools I went to.  The video game protestors were a semi-joke making fun of real life anti violent game activists. Killing them is optional and often time they get killed by the enemies by accident... There are at least 10 per level in most levels..

In terms of how easy it is to use stuff to make a game, you really have to be careful what you use. I had to change sounds for 99% of the enemy cast, and had to cut many enemies and weapons because idiots on realm667 were uploading custom monsters and weapons that used sounds from other games. This is something that can get you sued as a game developer, for distributing copyrighted sounds from another game, even though you weren't the one who ripped the sounds from the other game in question. I had to cut out a LOT to get around this and it pisses me off. You'd think the people in charge of that site would add a stipulation that says (non-infringing content only!) but they don't. It isn't my fault that half of that stuff steals content from other games and it pisses me off.  I had to get rid of 40% of the old stuff due to this. Not a small %.

The textures I used come from many sources, but none come from other games. Most are from a photorealistic texture pack released on half-life forums years ago. Since gzdoom supports hires textures this was the obvious choice for good looking GFX. Add the dynamic lighting around torches that you can boost by setting the max size and intensity of all lights,  and you can make the old gzdoom engine look as good as HL2 graphics wise, maybe not architecture wise, but it looks almost that good.  Some textures came from free texture download sites which don't exist anymore. I altered many to get them to tile and bump mapped every single texture in a painting program to make them look even better. The sheer amount of graphic detail the environment has in it is insane in Onslaught.... Here is a trailer I uploaded to youtube today...

Check that out... I plan to release it soon, within the next 2 weeks or so.... I plan to release the game as a free download in 2 week or so. It won't require any doom game to play.. Completely standalone. It WILL require hardware acceleration though because it uses lots of dynamic lighting and high-res textures and skyboxes.Stay tuned...
